Fromage frais! Only Fools and Horses set for a US remake

Television network ABC is going to make a pilot for an American version of Only Fools and Horses.

ABC say that the remake will follow the same formula as the original BBC show, which follows two brothers as they “concoct outrageous, morally questionable get-rich-quick schemes in their quest to become millionaires.”

Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley, best known for writing Scrubs, will pen the script for the remake.

The British sitcom which started in 1981 and ran until 2003 is still to this day extremely popular and goes down as one of the comedy greats amongst many, topping the 2004 poll to find the UK’s greatest ever sitcom.

If the US pilot is successful, it is said that a full series will be broadcast later this year.

No cast members have been selected yet.

Didn’t David Walliams and Matt Lucas already do this as Only Jerks and Horses?

  2. Ryan Adams says:

What a terrible idea, this will go the same as Red Dwarf

  3. deathnote fangirl says:

this will simply ruin the original series although i do love steven cragg and brian bradley as writers i think it is a bad idea.

  4. Kye says:

Agreed, although I can understand why they would do it, as I doubt that Americans would understand half the dialogue in the original.
