Xbox Live Games and Phoenix Wright Coming to Android and iOS?

In 2011, Microsoft released an Xbox Live app allowing users of Apple’s iOS to view Achievements, search titles, and view information about their Gamer tag from their devices. Microsoft’s Xbox Live games are currently only playable on one portable device, Windows Phone, but Microsoft may be looking to bring the titles to Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS platforms too.

When asked about the portable market, a Microsoft spokesperson said, While the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices. To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms.

Whilst neither Apple nor Google are mentioned in this statement, as the two largest mobile gaming markets it’s highly likely these will be the first platforms they go after.

Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices division (the division responsible for the Xbox, Kinect and Windows Phone) has been their fastest growing division recently, and Microsoft hopes this move will improve its profits even further.

Also recently announced at an event celebrating the Phoenix Wright series’ 10th aniversary is the news that the first three games (Phoenix Wright, Justice for All, Trials and Tribulations) are all being ported in HD to iPhone 4, iPad and later Android.

Do you think we will see more companies allowing their games onto mobile platforms? Will the increased sales on mobile devices be detrimental to dedicated gaming portables? Let us know in the comments below.
