Next Xbox Will Not Appear at E3 2012

After much speculation that we might hear about the new Xbox at this year’s E3, it’s been confirmed by Microsoft that it will not be making an appearance.

In the statement issued by Microsoft they stated, “For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360 – and it’s the best year ever for Xbox 360,” before continuing to say that, “While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon.”

With suggestions of the system’s power and codenames circulating, as well as reports of its architecture making the rounds, it’s possible that development kits may have begun being issued, but even if this is true, games would appear to be in too early a state to show.

With this news and the debunked Steam Console rumours, it’s now confirmed that Nintendo’s Wii U will be the only next generation console shown at E3 2012.

What do you think? Are you disappointed not to see a new Xbox this year? Do you think this will benefit Nintendo at E3? Let us know in the comments below.
