After Financial Crisis GAME to Stock New Release The Witcher 2

The prospects for GAME and Gamestation seem to be improving after their financial woes, as Namco Bandai confirm that the high street stores will be supplying newly released game titles.

The GAME Group, responsible for both GAME and Gamestation, went into administration in March following poor sales over the Christmas period, leaving the company struggling financially. GAME sold off 277 of its stores and entered administration before being bought out by investment group OpCapita, the same company which bought Comet for £2.

With their backing it appears that one of GAME’s biggest problems is now behind them. Publishers, including EA Games, Capcom and Nintendo stopped supplying new release titles from stores to prevent the merchandise being seized during liquidation. However, game company Namco Bandai have now issued a statement confirming that they will be supplying to GAME and Gamestation in the future. The first of which will be The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition for the Xbox 360.

A statement by Namco Bandai reads; “GAME, Gamestation and Namco Bandai Partners UK are pleased to confirm that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition for Xbox 360 will be available from all GAME and Gamestation stores across the UK on the 17th April. We can confirm that all customers who have pre-ordered the Dark Edition and the Enhanced Edition will receive the eagerly anticipated RPG for launch.”

GAME have also announced that return policies have returned to normal and that they are once again accepting gift cards, reward cards and trade-ins, all of which were casualties of the recent upheaval.

With any luck the game will mark a touch of magic for the company and a new start for all concerned. The hope is that with Namco Bandai on board, other publishers will begin to follow suit and the high street retailer will once again be able to meet customer demand.
