Gangster Squad Trailer

From Warner Bros comes the first trailer for Gangster Squad.

In Los Angeles, 1949, mob boss Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) is reaping the benefits from drugs, guns, prostitutes and gambling. He’s able to get away with it because he pays off the police and the politicians too. That is until police chief Bill Parker (Nick Nolte) puts together a small crew of LAPD bad asses led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling). They are assigned to make no arrests, only to clean up the city, with the goal being to bring Cohen down. Pictured with Brolin and Gosling and making up the rest of the squad are Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Michael Peña and Robert Patrick.

The trailer may evoke the likes of L.A. Confidential and The Black Dahlia, but it also looks to be heavily action orientated, with chair smashing, blood flying fights, a shootout in a cinema, even a cliché shot of men with guns walking away from an exploding car! And it’s all to the sounds of Jay-Z’s Oh My God. Watch below, or alternatively you can opt for Apple HD downloads.

Based on a true story from the book Tales From the Gangster Squad by Paul Lieberman (who is also on board as a producer), Gangster Squad is directed by Ruben Fleischer. It opens in the US on October 12th, and makes its way to the UK on November 9th.
