Silent Hill: Revelation 3D – First Trailer

Following on from a short clip that was previewed at the San Diego Comic Con, there is now a trailer for the upcoming Silent Hill sequel, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D.

From Davis-Films and Sony Pictures, the sequel is set six years after the original film and is largely based upon Konami’s Silent Hill 3, focusing on Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) and her father (Sean Bean). On the eve of Heather’s 18th birthday, she finds herself plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father. Believing that she is not who she thinks she is, the revelation leads her deep into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.

Interestingly the film had finished shooting back in the summer of 2011, with post-production having wrapped earlier this year. Written and directed by Michael J. Bassett, he revealed back in March on his blog that, “the people who have invested their money in making this film have chosen, rightly or wrongly, to hold back the release of anything until they have a release schedule for the film they’re happy with.”

The sequel is to be distributed in the US by Open Road, and according to Bassett it was their decision to hold off on the marketing. I guess they think that this October would be a good time to release it. Bassett also revealed that an international trailer will be on its way in a few weeks, one that is unlikely to hold back on the gore.

The film also brings back former cast members Radha Mitchell as Rose and Deborah Kara Unger as Dahlia, as well as starring Kit Harington, Carrie-Anne Moss and Malcolm McDowell.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is released later this year in the US on October 26th and in UK on October 31st. Can it get any scarier than this?
