Avril Lavigne to perform One Piece Film Z Themes

Next Monday’s issue of Weekly Shounen Jump is set to announce that Avril Lavigne will be performing the two theme songs of the upcoming One Piece Film Z film.

Many fans will be familar with the Canadian pop-rocker, who’s career has spanned from the early 2000s with her smash hit “Sk8er Boi” to last year’s chart topper “What the Hell”. It’s said that One Piece author Eiichiro Oda is a fan of Avril Lavigne‘s music, whilst she is a fan of his manga, which resulted in the two exchanging letters and making the collaboration. As a first for the franchise, the film will feature not one, but two theme songs! A cover of the Joan Jett song “Bad Reputation” and Nickelback‘s “How You Remind Me” are set to score this shounen spectacular.

Due to open on December 15th, One Piece Film Z marks the 12th theatrical adventure for the straw hat crew, facing the mysterious ex-marine admiral “Z”, who’s set to be the “strongest villain” they’ve ever faced! You can check out the latest trailer below:
