The Legend of Zelda LEGO under review

The Legend of Zelda Project

There have been a number of licensed LEGO theme sets ranging from the ever popular Star Wars LEGO, while last year saw LEGO Minecraft Micro World Sets become available. Now, through LEGO Cuusoo, there’s an increasing likelihood that we might see The Legend of Zelda in LEGO form.

LEGO Cuusoo allows people to suggest ideas to LEGO. Product concepts that reach 10,000 supporters are qualified for review by LEGO, which happens quarterly. The one which passes their review goes on to become an official product.

The Legend of Zelda project by Ragaru is one such concept that is currently under review by LEGO. It is the second attempt to create a LEGO set based on the video game franchise. The initial attempt was rejected by LEGO, citing how, “multiple new element molds would be required to create the minifigures for such a product, and the expense of these molds means that the Legend of Zelda project unfortunately does not pass the LEGO Review on the basis of the business case.”

Ragaru posted some concept art on how his Legend of Zelda set could look.

LEGO congratulated Ragaru on reaching 10,000 supporters and said, “Your work provides another approach to the concept of a Legend of Zelda LEGO set and we admire that you have not allowed the results of the previous project to discourage your efforts.”

Given that The Legend of Zelda is owned by Nintendo, LEGO would need to finalise a deal with them first before giving this the go ahead.

If it makes it to the shop shelves, would this be a LEGO set that you can see yourself purchasing?

If they don’t call it “Lego Of Zelda” they missed a brilliant opportunity.
