New Teaser, Stills and Posters for The Wolverine

The Wolverine

Yesterday (March 25th) Directer James Mangold gave his Twitter followers a sneak peek of The Wolverine via the new Vine app. You can find it here. Vine videos are only six seconds long but a lot was crammed in there, including a glimpse of a certain X-Men actress. The shot of Famke Janssen could be a flashback but we’ll have to wait and see.

This very brief look is similar to the Iron Man 3 Facebook advertising in which a teaser to the teaser was released. With social media apps like Vine you can expect to see more video bites like these. Reward for the fans, or just annoying? We’ll let you decide that one. But today we got to see a bit more…

Not enough? Well you’re in luck because we should be getting an even longer trailer tomorrow so stay tuned for that. Meanwhile EW released some brand new photos from the movie including the one currently sitting at the top of this very article.

The woman in green is Viper (aka Madame Hydra) being played by Svetlana Khodchenkova. As you can probably tell from the image, she’s not one of the good guys. Wolverine’s new friend, seen above, is Yukio (played by Rila Fukushima). Mangold has described her as a “badass” that has “sprung from the anime world.”

As well as this, three new posters have been released.

The Wolverine is set in Japan with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) enlisted to protect Mariko (Tao Okamoto) during a gangland war. With samurai and ninjas to spare, we can expect The Wolverine to have some great action but hopefully not at the expense of its heart. Set after the events of the X-Men movies, Wolverine is a man who has experienced the death of too many people. ”He realizes everyone he loves dies, and his whole life is full of pain,” says Jackman. ”So it’s better that he just escapes. He can’t die really. He just wants to get away from everything.”

Mangold and Jackman both seem very proud of this movie so we’ve got high hopes. So cross those fingers and pray that this won’t be another “Origins“. The Wolverine is released July 26th.
