4Minute ask “What’s Your Name?”

The last we heard of 4Minute was in April 2012 with the release of their mini album Volume Up. Member Hyuna became known worldwide through her solo promotions and collaborations as the ‘sexy girl’ in Psy’s Gangnam Style, even collaborating to do her own version. Another sub-unit of 4Minute are members Heo Ga-yoon and Jeon Ji-yoon known as 2Yoon. They released their single 24/7 which featured their label mates BTOB in a fun loving western themed video. The single was released on their album “Harvest Moon” in January 2013.

Since solo activities and sub-unit activities have slowed down, Cube Entertainment decided to bring the girls back together to produce their new album Name Is 4Minute. The new single What’s Your Name? is produced by the hugely recognisable Brave Brothers and features a “hip-hop style with unique sounds and fast-paced, rhythm-packed melody”, which is a follow up to their introduction song What’s My Name? On the mini album the track Whatever is described by the album’s producers as ‘unique’, with Gimme That as an “ambitious song that asks a man to show his manly side for love.” Domino was described as a “strong hip-hop and blues genre, together with a powerful rocking melody.” If anything is to go by the album’s producers, I think fans of 4Minute are to expect some new and exciting styles from the girls.

The lead up to the release of the new album has been a tantalising and teasing moment for all the fans. With numerous teasers announcing the comeback of 4Minute, the wait has been antagonising. It started on April 18th with the SNL Korea (Saturday Night Live) crew asking and saying their names. The following day Cube Entertainment released Hyuna‘s teaser video, and as expected she bought a sexy, cute and playful image. This was also the first look into the theme for the upcoming release. In order Ga-yoon‘s teaser was released on the 20th, So-hyun on the 21st, Ji-yoon on the 22nd and Ji-hyun on the 23rd. The first snippet teaser for What’s Your Name? was released on the 24th. Unfortunately filming for the music video ran a little later than expected and Cube Entertainment decided to hold back from releasing the album and music video by one day, so the official release isn’t until April 26th.

Check out the latest teaser below, and tell us what you think. Be sure to check back for the official music video release.
