A Look at NBC’s Dracula

NBC - Dracula - Cover

Bram Stoker‘s classic novel gets a twisted and sophisticated reboot in the new NBC drama, Dracula, brought to us by the producers of Downton Abbey. Starring The Tudors star, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the show is set in 19th century London, where Dracula – posing as an entrepreneur from America – wishes to bring modern science to a traditional Victorian society. His interest is primarily in the recently discovered Electricity; artificial light that will brighten the dark for those who cannot walk in the sunlight. However, there is a darker reason for the vampire’s travelling: he wishes to exact revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries ago.

Everything appears to be going well for the immortal, until he meets – and becomes infatuated with – a woman who is a seeming reincarnation of his dead wife, Mina Murray (Jessica De Gouw).

Here is the first look from NBC:

The show also stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Jonathan HarkerThomas Kretschmann as Abraham Van Helsing; Nonso Anozie as R.M. Renfield; Victoria Smurfit as Lady Jane Wetherby; Ben Miles as Mr. Browning; Robert Bathhurst as Lord Thomas Davenport and Merlin‘s Katie McGrath as Lucy Westenra.

Dracula will be shown on Friday’s on NBC after Grimm in the 10-11pm timeslot of the Fall schedule.
