A Dream of Flying – Neil Gaiman Pens Project Imagination Short

As part of Canon‘s Project Imagination, which saw celebrity directors create films inspired by the winning entries to a photo competition, Neil Gaiman has written a fairytale short called A Dream of Flying.

Directed by fashion designer Georgina Chapman, the film tells the story of a little girl who can fly, but who is institutionalized by grown-ups determined to make her into a “normal human being”. While the conflicted Clarissa struggles with her gift and feels under pressure to conform, she meets the free-spirited Franklin, who encourages her to accept herself for who she really is.

The Project Imagination website describes the short as,

“the story of a girl who will spend her whole life trying not to fly, and a boy who would give his life to teach her. Throughout different stages in their lives, timeless love will bring the couple together and lift them off their feet.”

In addition to A Dream of Flying, the project produced nine other films, directed by Eva Longoria, Jamie Foxx, Biz Stone and James Murphy.
