Ben Foster and others added to Warcraft Cast

The Warcraft movie was one of many pushed back to 2016 to avoid competing with Star Wars in 2015. But that’s not stopping Legendary Pictures and Universal from beavering away and getting things in place.

More people have been signed on and so far the cast is looking like this. Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paula Patton, Toby Kebbel, Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Rob Kazinsky (True Blood).

There were rumours that Colin Farrell was up for a leading role and there’s no confirmation on that yet. But he did get to talk to IGN briefly about the script and his reaction was reassuringly positive.

“The script was just really, really cool, and it’s just a world that I never explored — and it’s a really big and fantastical world.”

It’s certainly shaping up to be a really interesting mix of creatives and cast and we can’t wait to find out what the final story is going to be. Warcraft has a huge number of characters, mythology and environments all ready to be used so this could go anywhere. It’s a fantasy world unlike anything that’s been put to film before and just as big of a gamble as Guardians of the Galaxy, but without the Marvel safety net.

The Warcraft movie is to be directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) and is based on a script written by Charles Leavitt
