The Rock) as a rescue chopper pilot, joins a crowded and ever-growing movie calendar for summer 2015, which already includes the likes of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tomorrowland, BOO: Bureau of Otherwordly Operations, Jurassic World, Fantastic Four, Batman vs. Superman, Assassin’s Creed and Bourne 5, some of which were rescheduled last month, following the announcement of the Star Wars: Episode VII release date.

Produced by New Line Cinema and directed by Brad Peyton, the film takes place in an earthquake-stricken California, and follows Johnson’s character as he journeys across the devastated state in search of his lost daughter. It’s been in the works for some time: according to Deadline, the search for a director began as early as December 2011. Peyton will be working from a script initially written by Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio, and later edited by Allan Loeb.

The studio has also confirmed that the film will be released in both 2D and 3D.
