This Time Next Year… Only Fools and Horses May Well Return

imagesCAE933E7When Only Fools and Horses creator John Sullivan died in 2011 we thought it was the last time we would see aspiring millionaires Del Boy and Rodney pack up their trusty suitcase of faulty goods. But like one of Del Boy’s cheques to the council, the Trotters are bouncing back!

Yesterday Sir David Jason revealed that the hit British sitcom could be back on our screens as soon as spring next year and he’d been too nervous to read through the new script produced by Sullivan’s sons, Jim and Dan.

“I’ve had a quick look at the treatment and it’s very good but I’m saving the proper read-though until there are no distractions. It’s not the sort of thing you can muck about with.”

The script has been based on an undeveloped idea by Sullivan’s sons. Sullivan was also responsible for creating popular spin off series Rock and Chips; which depicted the relationship between the legendary Joan Trotter and gentleman thief Freddie the Frog.

This will be the first instalment of the dodgy dealer’s antics since 2003 – which at the time of broadcast was viewed by two out of three British households – where we last saw the Trotter brothers back at Nelson Mandela House after yet another ill-judged investment.

But what should we expect ten years on? There’ll no doubt be a new addition to the Trotter clan in the form of Rodney and Cassandra’s daughter Joan Trotter. If the last seven series is anything to go by then expect more questionable schemes, exotic cocktails, and plenty of laughs.
