UK wrestler Magnus makes history in TNA

CaptureNick Aldis, known to wrestling fans around the world as Magnus, has made history by becoming the first ever British wrestler to become World Heavyweight Champion for a major American wrestling organisation, ending a 108 year wait. TNA put their faith in the ex-Gladiator back in 2008, and ever since Magnus has been working hard to develop his craft and become the best he can possibly be. A real fan favourite with all in the UK, Magnus always gets huge reactions during the TNA yearly tours in the UK, and the upcoming 2014 tour looks to be the most special one yet.

On the most recent edition of Impact, TNA’s weekly wrestling show, Magnus faced wrestling veteran Jeff Hardy, a daredevil who has wrestled for WWE and TNA for 15 years and won numerous World titles, tag titles and is known as one of the toughest men in the industry. In the final of a tournament for the vacant TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Magnus pulled out the biggest win of his career and overcame odds that many never expected him to, fulfilling a lifelong dream in climbing that mountain and becoming ‘the man.’

In commenting on his win, Magnus said: “It is truly an honour and a privilege to be the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion. I’m looking forward to bringing the title belt back to where it all started for me. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing. It’s also important to represent all the people in the UK wrestling business that helped me get to this point, and hopefully show the young British talent that there is no glass ceiling; you can be a top guy!”

Magnus will no doubt receive a massive homecoming ‘pop’ from each and every crowd on the TNA Maximum Impact VI tour in January and February, joining such stars as Kurt Angle, Bully Ray, and Samoa Joe, as well as Knockouts such as Gail Kim and Velvet Sky. Over twenty five different names from the regular TNA roster will be visiting our shores to bring their unique brand of action seen each and every week on Impact.

Tickets are on sale now via Gigs and Tours, Ticketmaster or the TNA Wrestling UK Facebook page. Locations include Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, London and Birmingham.
