MCM London Comic Con launch 48 hour film race!

MCM London Comic ConThroughout history there have been many great races, The London Marathon, The Grand National and this May the MCM London Comic Con is hoping to add another great race to this list as they launch their first ever 48 hour film race in association with A1 Pictures.

Whilst not strictly the same type of race as those aforementioned competitions, the film race gives fans 48 hours in which to film, edit and present a film to the special panel of to be confirmed judges. The challenge is free to enter. Just head over to the Comic Con Film Race website and complete the entry form. From here, all the participants have to do is turn up to a secret location that they will be told about on the Friday before via email, at 6pm on Friday 9th May. Once at the location teams will be presented with a brief that will feature the following:

The theme of the film.
Dialogue that must be said on screen.
And last but by no means least, a prop that must be used in the film.

Once they have received all of this information, the contestants have until 8pm on Sunday 11th May to complete and return their film (the film cannot be more than five minutes long). They can send the film to the organisers either by uploading it to video sharing site Vimeo, or by delivering it to one of the specified drop off points.

The judges will then review all of the entries and select the best ones to be shown on the Vidfest UK screen in the VidfestUK area at MCM London Comic Con on Sunday 26th May, with the winner of the coveted title of “Best Film,” being announced that day too. Along with the title, the winners will be given a yet-to-be-announced, top secret prize. In addition to being shown on the screen, the best films will also be packaged on a DVD which will be sold at the A1 Pictures stand throughout the weekend and on Amazon thereafter.

So if you are interested and think that you can create a filmic masterpiece of up to five minutes long, then head to comicconfilmrace.com to register and then follow the competition’s Facebook and Twitter pages for updates, clues and information about the theme and race.
