Macbeth director to helm Michael Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed?

Deadline Hollywood report that Ubisoft and New Regency are in talks with Snowtown‘s Justin Kurzel to direct Assassin’s Creed. X-Men: Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender is attached as a co-producer and is set to star in the adaptation of the juggernaut video game series.

Fassbender and Kurzel have completed production on 2015’s Macbeth. The duo must have got on well together if Fassbender is lobbying to get Kurzel in the director’s chair. Amongst the directors the studio was considering included Safe House director Daniel Espinosa, and The Raid 2 director Gareth Evans.

There’s nothing set in stone yet, so in the meantime we will just have to take a seat ladies and gentleman and see how this turns out. Assassin’s Creed is currently in pre-production, scheduled for release at some point in 2015.
