Greg Cipes Interview at the MCM London Comic Con

Best known for his roles as Beast Boy in Teen Titans and Michelangelo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, voice actor, musician and surfer Greg Cipes has acquired a huge following and is inspiring a generation of fans to follow their dreams. At the MCM London Comic Con on Sunday, MCM Buzz caught up with Greg to ask him a few questions about his career and his advice to budding creatives.

When you were growing up, you loved watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so how did it feel when you finally got the role of Michelangelo?

Greg: Maybe the best day of my life! I never could have expected it. Of course I wanted the role, but to finally get it – my heart dropped to the floor. It felt like my whole life had changed. And it has. Being a Turtle is a great responsibility!

What’s your favourite thing about working on popular shows like Teen Titans and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Greg: The mass appeal that it has with fans around the world. I get to connect with people a lot. My favourite thing is connecting with people and connecting with fans.

Talking of fans, have you ever had any interesting fan encounters or any that have inspired you in any way?

Greg: I think everybody individually is unique and inspiring and fun, and if you look at somebody in the eyes – no one person is more inspiring than another.

What’s been your favourite thing to work on and which character has been your favourite to play?

Greg: Beast Boy, maybe, because he’s my first character that I ever played, and I’ve gotten to play so many different incarnations of him already in different series.

Are there any other voice actors you’ve been really inspired by?

Greg: Yeah, I’m inspired by all of my friends that I’ve worked with. I love working with Sean Astin and Seth Green – everybody! Rob Paulsen, Kevin Michael Richardson – the list goes on and on.

If there was anyone in the world that you could work with on any show, who would it be?

Greg: Mickey Mouse!

Do you have any advice for aspiring actors or voice actors?

Greg: Do it! Don’t ever stop! Just do what you love and eventually you’ll get paid for doing what you love. It might take a long time, but if you love it, you’ll never stop, and eventually you’ll become a master at it and people will pay you to do it – whatever it is, whether it’s voice acting or being a teacher or whatever. Anything you wanna do – if you love it, do it and eventually you’ll get paid for it.

Is there anything else you’d like to say to your fans?

Greg: Anything you’ve ever wanted, you will receive it, and you’ll get it in a way that you never could have imagined – better than you could ever have imagined, every time.
