Lupita Nyong’o and Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie to join Star Wars



Confirmed today via the Star Wars official site, Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong’o and Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie will be amidst the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Launching stars into the stars, Nyong’o and Christie will be joining the recently announced cast of old faces and new, alongside Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, as well as Max Von Sydow, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac.

Lupita Nyong’o catapulted into the public eye through her breath-taking performance in 12 Years A Slave, for which she won both the Academy Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Gwendoline Christe currently stars in the popular HBO TV series Game of Thrones as Brienne of Tarth. Christie will also be starring in the second instalment of The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay.

In the official release statement, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said, “I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII. It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”

Star Wars: Episode VII will be in cinemas worldwide in December 2015.
