Second Sin City 2 trailer highlights more of Frank Miller

Sin City is back and it’s darker than ever. The full-length second trailer for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For released by Dimension Films debuted on Wednesday (11 June). Familiar characters from the first film return in this eagerly-awaited sequel starring Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke as well as a whole host of new faces, including Ray Liotta, Eva Green, Josh BrolinJoseph Gordon-Levitt and Lady Gaga.

The trailer, at two and a half minutes long, packs a mighty triple punch. The familiar black-and-white palette with pops of intense colour are reminiscent of the classic colourised style from the first film. A bass-heavy, heart-thumping soundtrack pounds throughout the trailer, matching the high adrenaline tone. The first trailer for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For featured the single ‘Can’t Kill Us‘ from The Glitch Mob‘s new LP Love Death Immortality but there has been no word on whether the EDM group will feature more in the film itself. Lastly, while credited as writer and co-director, Frank Miller‘s artwork also features more prominently, appearing as title cards to identify the main characters, similar to the graphic novel series the films are based upon.

While the first film showed six chapters with two of those chapters split into two parts each, the sequel shall only present four chapters. The first two chapters – the titular ‘A Dame To Kill For‘ and ‘Just Another Saturday Night‘ – are adapted from the second book in Frank Miller‘s series, centring on the characters Ava Lord (Eva Green) and Dwight McCarthy (Josh Brolin) and events that took place during the first film. The second two chapters – ‘The Long Bad Night‘ and ‘The Fat Loss‘ – were created by Frank Miller exclusively for the film. With a larger cast but fewer chapters than its predecessor, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is sure to be action-packed.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will be out in the UK 29 August. Check out the trailer below.
