Video Games the Movie posterA trailer has emerged for the feature length documentary Video Games: The Movie, which will be released on demand from July. As well as covering the history of video games it will also look at where they are now, the audience and gaming culture, how video games are made and what the future holds.

The documentary comes from director Jeremy Snead and executive producers Zach Braff and Cliff Bleszinski. Partially funded through Kickstarter from May 2013, it surpassed its goal of $60,000, with over $100,000 pledged.

“Games are a part of the human experience and permeate our culture now more than ever before,” said Snead. “I’m thrilled that my film will expose the world to a never-before-told story of the men and women who built this industry, as well as what it has become and what it will continue to evolve into.”

Narrated by Sean Astin, it features contributions from Atari’s Nolan Bushnell, Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima, actor Wil Wheaton, screenwriter Max Landis, Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Nintendo President and CEO Reggie Fils-Aime and many more.

Video Games: The Movie will be available on demand and see a limited theatrical release in the US and Canada from 15 July.
