New Yu-Gi-Oh! Movie in Development

Last week, international movie distributor 4K Media Inc. announced that a new Yu-Gi-Oh! film is currently in development in Japan.

Based on Kazuki Takahashi‘s original manga, the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime television series had now reached its fifth season, Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, which premiered in Japan this spring. The new movie will follow two previous Yu-Gi-Oh! feature films, the first of which – Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light – was released in 2004. Created to mark the franchise’s 10th anniversary, the second film, Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time, hit cinemas in 2010.

Having promoted the franchise at last week’s Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, 4K Media is now seeking distributors for the film in territories outside Asia.

Said 4K Media Inc Senior Vice President Kristen Gray, “We’re thrilled to bring the Yu-Gi-Oh! characters back to theater screens for their enthusiastic fan base. It’s a major piece in the robust resurgence of the brand that will have significant implications moving forward.”
