It’s official – a third book written by John Green is about to be brought to the big screen! The Fault in Our Stars was just released in all its glory in the UK (read our review here) and Green’s third novel, Paper Towns is also being transformed into a film by the same team who worked on The Fault in Our Stars. Now, Green’s debut novel, Looking for Alaska, is set to join them.

The book was optioned for a film by Paramount Pictures in 2005 but the idea was shelved due to lack of interest. Finally, John Green has announced that Sarah Polley (writer of documentary Stories We Tell) will both write and direct the film.

Looking for Alaska is the story of a boy called Miles Halter who leaves home to attend Culver Creek Preparatory High School in Texas. There he meets a girl called Alaska, who turns his previously-boring life upside-down. In his announcement, Green posted on his Facebook and Twitter pages:

It’s not a surprise that Paramount has decided to go ahead with the film when you look at the massive box-office success of The Fault in Our Stars, and the fact that a Looking for Alaska movie has been long-awaited by John Green’s fans. Nothing else about the cast or other crew of this film has been released yet.
