First trailer for Tim Burton’s Big Eyes

Big Eyes (Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams) (2)

The Weinstein Company have released through Yahoo the first trailer from director Tim Burton’s drama Big Eyes.

The film is based on the real life events of Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), an artist that gained fame during the 1950s and 1960s for paintings that featured girls and women with oversized eyes. Only, he didn’t paint them. While Walter took the credit, the true artist was his wife Margaret (Amy Adams). She initially enjoys the riches that her work brings, but struggles to put up with her husband’s lies and eventually takes him to court.

Written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, they were also responsible for Tim Burton’s biopic Ed Wood. Similarly with Big Eyes, most of the fantastical trademarks that one would expect from Burton are not here. Yet one look at the trailer and you can see that it still has his fingerprints all over it.

Co-starring Danny Huston, Krysten Ritter, Jason Schwartzman and Terence Stamp, Big Eyes opens in the US on 25 December and in the UK on 26 December.
