Star Wars Episode VII now has its official title

Ever since a seventh Star Wars film was announced back in 2012, fans have been speculating about what the film’s title will be. After a year of guessing, Lucasfilm and Disney have now revealed the official title: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

The announcement was made by the Star Wars social media team, when they posted a picture of the official title on twitter, confirming also that the J.J. Abrams-directed film has recently wrapped its Principal Photography. Check out the picture below:

The Force Awakens: A confusing title to say the least. Maybe it could mean that the force, the energy field that surrounds us and penetrates us has awakened from it’s 30-year sleep after defeating the Galactic Empire in Return of the Jedi. Or it could mean something completely different. Now, instead of wondering what the title to Star Wars VII will be, fans can start theorising about what the official title could mean for the films story and the Star Wars franchise as a whole.

Now that the title has been released, rumours have also emerged that we’ll soon be getting the first teaser trailer for The Force Awakens. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Lucasfilm, and Bad Robot Productions. It will be written by Lawrence Kasdan and J.J. Abrams, produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Bryan Burk and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on December 18th, 2015.
