Peacekeepers NYC Nominated for IndieWire’s Project of the Month

Last week, MCM Buzz published an interview with the creator of an in-the-making science-fiction web series called Peacekeepers, after a public poll earned it the title of IndieWire’s Project of the Week. As a result of this success, the show has now been nominated for Project of the Month, with voting open to the public until 3pm on Monday 8th December.

Screened as part of Vidfest UK at October’s MCM London Comic Con, Peacekeepers follows a group of New Yorkers who begin receiving mysterious text messages from an unknown source. The messages warn their receivers – known as “mods” – of impending deaths in nearby locations, allowing them to arrive on the scene in time to save the day. But it’s not just attempts at murder or suicide they encounter: amazingly, the texts enable the prevention of a whole range of both accidental and deliberate fatalities, leading some to conclude that the messages are being sent by God.

Created by Gotham script assistant and Whatever This Is story editor Charlie Reeves, Peacekeepers was initially promoted with a Kickstarter campaign that didn’t quite reach its target, despite generating a lot of interest online. Nevertheless, undeterred, those behind the show are now exploring other channels for funding and promotion, and need your help to turn their ideas into a reality. Voting Peacekeepers for Project of the Month could earn the team a consultation with the Tribeca Film Institute, along with a lot of publicity for the series.

We’re convinced that this is a show that deserves a wider audience, and would love to see the project finished, but if you’re still not 100% sold, check out the excellent pilot episode, ‘The Long Way Down’, below:

Voting for Project of the Month ends at 3pm UK time on Monday 8th December. Click here to vote and to find out more about the nominees.
