Ryan Gosling in talks to star in Blade Runner sequel

ryan-goslingIt has been revealed that Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling is in negotiations to star in Alcon Entertainment’s highly anticipated and long awaited sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner. The film is to be directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) and executive produced by none other than Ridley Scott.

It is also confirmed that Harrison Ford will continue his trend of reprising iconic sci-fi characters, as he returns to the role of Rick Deckard.

Principal photography is not set to begin until summer of 2016, but nevertheless fans of the original have to be excited at the prospect of a sequel, in which Deckard will return.

Hampton Fancher (co-writer of the original) and Michael Green have written the screenplay, which is based on an idea by Fancher and Ridley Scott. The sequel takes place several decades after the conclusion of the original movie. Unfortunately plot details, as well as Gosling’s role, are being kept under lock and key… at least for now.

Alcon Entertainment acquired the prequel and sequel film, television and ancillary franchise rights to the iconic science-fiction thriller Blade Runner back in 2011 from producers Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin. They will both serve as producers on the sequel along with Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Are we excited about this long awaited sequel? Or should this iconic movie be left alone?
