Hawk the Slayer does his killing in high definition

Hot off the news that Hawk the Slayer is launching a bid for a sequel (called Hawk the Hunter, see early details here), director Terry Marcel’s original film is finally getting a Blu-ray release.

Starring Oscar-winner Jack Palance, John Terry, Bernard Bresslaw and Ray Charleson, Hawk the Slayer is being released as part of Network’s ‘The British Film’ collection on 6 July 2015.

If you’ve somehow not managed to catch this film during the past 35 years, the plot goes like this:

“When his father is mortally wounded at the hands of his brother – the evil wizard Voltan (Palance) – Hawk (John Terry) is bequeathed a magical sword which responds to his thoughts. Swearing vengeance on his brother, he gathers together a trusty band of giants, dwarves, elves and witches and together these warriors must end Voltan’s reign of terror forever, or die trying…”
