Zorro To Get A Post-Apocalyptic Makeover

zorroThe A-Z of the Apocalypse now has another entry to file under Z just after Z For Zachariah. It’s now Z for Zorro. Yes, the masked hispanic hero from the 19th Century is set for a futuristic makeover.

The idea Zorro Reborn has been kicking around Hollywood for a while now (it was at 2oth Century Fox previously with Bryan Singer attached) but has found new life with a partnership between Lantica Media and Sobini Films. The plan to begin principal photography in March 2016 in Pinewood’s Dominican Republic Studios. Veteran producer and Sobini CEO Mark Amin, whose credits include Good Kill and Frida, will produce the film.

In Zorro Reborn the pulp hero – created in 1919 by Johnston McCulley – is reinvented for the near future but he’s still a masked and caped avenger taking on tyrants.

“This has been a 15-year journey filled with ups and downs, but it has remained my passion project over the years,” says producer Mark Amin.

“Every generation has its own Zorro hero and we’re proud to be able to introduce a new Zorro to this generation,” says Lantica CEO Antonio Gennari.

We fully expect to see Zorro cutting his signature Z into opponents’ clothes with a laser sword. And he’s bound to have a motorbike rather than a horse, of course.
