Jesse_quickUpdate: TVLine is now reporting that Violett Beane will play the female speedster Jesse Quick. The daughter of the golden age character Johnny Quick in the DC universe, for the series she’s described as: “a brilliant but quirky college student who gets caught up in the battle between the Flash and season 2’s big bad, Zoom.”

tokamakAccording to ComicBook.com, Hewitt in the show will be “a charming but cocky scientist who was affected by the same Particle Accelerator explosion that created the Flash. When Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) recruits him to join the team at STAR Labs, Hewitt jumps at the opportunity to fulfil his destiny as a powerful meta-human.”

In the comics, Hewitt was introduced in Firestorm Volume 2 #15 in 1983 as the head of a corrupt energy conglomerate who tried to play hardball with Congress to manipulate markets on his behalf. He kidnapped a senator’s daughter and experimented on her with a process similar to that which created Firestorm and created the superhero Firehawk in the process. Then he tried the process on himself to become Tokamak.

None of which probably has any bearing on season two of The Flash but we thought you’d like to know.

Demore Barnes has previously had roles in Supernatural (in which he was the angel Raphael in a trio of episodes), Hannibal, Fringe and Hemlock Grove. He’ll also have a major role in season two of the TV version of Twelve Monkeys, which will air next year.
