Brides Of Dracula TV Series In Development

NBC has given the green light to the pilot for gothic soap opera, The Brides Of Dracula, from prolific producer Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl) and playwright, screenwriter and comic book writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, chief executive officer at Archie comics.

The Brides in the 1931 Dracula

It is not, however, an adaptation of the 1960 Hammer Film of the same name, but a whole new concept: what if Van Helsing had not killed the three “brides” – as he does towards the climax of Bram Stoker’s Dracula – and they’d moved to New York City where they’re now still living.

Deadline says the project is a family drama about a trio of strong, diverse females and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige and legacy. Well, in Dracula their MO was seducing men then killing them, so perhaps that’s still factor in their lives?

Aguirre-Sacasa will write the script for Brides. He and Berlanti are also working on Riverdale, a series set in the Archie Comics universe, for The CW.
