Game Of Thrones Sets An Emmys Record

Although fans may not have rated season five of Game Of Thrones as the best in the series run (still great, just not as great but with really great moments), the HBO show has triumphed at this year’s prestigious Emmy Awards, winning Outstanding Drama Series, beating Mad Men and Downton Abbey. It also added three more wins in the main Emmy Awards last night in Los Angeles to add to the eight it had already won in the Creative Emmy awards, taking its total to 12 – setting a new record for the most wins by a series in a single year.

In addition to Outstanding Drama Series, Game Of Thrones also last night won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Peter Dinklage), Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (“Mother’s Mercy” – David Benioff and DB Weiss) and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (“Mother’s Mercy” David Nutter).

HBO had a very good night all round, with wins for Veep and Olive Kitteridge too, taking its totals wins over the two ceremonies to 43.
