Ridley Scott Reveals Prometheus 2’s Title

Just a few days (and a few press interviews for The Martian) after stating that it could take four Prometheus movies before the series brings audiences up to the events in Alien, director Ridley Scott has revealed in an interview that Prometheus 2 will be called Alien: Paradise Lost.

Which strikes us as a little odd if we’re still possibly three movies away from Alien. Maybe after the decidedly underwhelming critical (and fan) reception given to Prometheus Fox is keen to distance the second film from it predecessor and keen to emphasise its Alien credentials.

Scott revealed the title in an interview with Hey U Guys: “Actually, it’s going to be called Alien: Paradise Lost, so Prometheus 2 isn’t what it’s really going to be.”

The name comes from John Milton’s epic 17th century poem about Biblical story of the Fall Of Man, which was actually referenced in Prometheus by Shaw. Scott doesn’t think we should read too much into any parallels, though, saying, “It sounds intellectual, but there’s a similarity to it, and that’s where it stops.”

In vaguely connected news, the BBC’s entertainment correspondent, Lizo Mzimba recently Tweeted that Blade Runner 2 may be called Android’s Dream (referencing Philip K Dick’s Do Android’s Dream Of Electric Sheep from which Blade Runner was adapted) based on domain names being registered by Warner Bros.
