Powers Adds Veronica Mars’s Dad And Mr Blonde To Cast

Two great actors have been added to the cast for season two of PlayStation Network’s adaptation of the comic book Powers: Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, The Hateful Eight) and Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars, Person Of Interest).

The show, based on the comic created by Brian Michael Bendis, is a superhero/police procedural mash-up in which two cops, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward) are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers”.

Madsen is set to play SuperShock, one of most powerful “Powers” on the planet but a bit past his prime. In the comics he’s used to explore the idea: what if Superman went senile? According to Deadline, the TV version of SuperShock was once the ultimate Power – a perfect physical specimen with global fame – who retired at the height of his career under mysterious circumstances. He emerges for the first time in 40 years after the death of Retro Girl.

Colantoni, meanwhile, will play Bailey Brown, a senator from Montana and a leader in the Anti-Powers legislation. He was once himself a Power known as Cobalt Knight, but he now abstains from using his abilities to serve his country from the halls of Congress.

Season two of Powers is currently in production in Atlanta and is due to be show on the PlayStation Network in 2016.
