Director James Gunn Teases Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2

“We can expect something a little bit in the vein of the first movie and also different,” promised director James Gunn of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 during a wide-ranging Facebook Q&A in which he revealed that he’d just moved to Atlanta where the film will shoot. “I’m going to be here in Atlanta for nearly ten months,” he confirmed. Shooting begins in February.

He teased that at least one new main character will join the Guardians in the sequel, saying, “I’m not going to give names and I won’t give numbers either, but there will be at least one new character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.” But he did add that, “Nebula is an important character” in the film. So Karen Gillan’s agent will be happy, then.

He did admit that he fully intends for there to be another returnee in the sequel: “I love Stan Lee. He’s a great man. He’s one of my favourite people in the world. I still get giddy like a school girl whenever I’m around him, and he’s also nice to me, so why would I not want him in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2?”

Other snippets he revealed included, “There will be no other human beings besides Quill…Drax is not the biggest fan of Baby Groot…  [Rocket] is young. I guess he’d probably be in his late 20s if he was a human.”

Guardians Vol 3 was probable, he said, “if the second one does well… you guys will have to go see the second one!” But Gunn was coy as to whether he’d be helming it. “There’s a lot of other Marvel cosmic properties that I’d be interested in helping usher to the screen. I talk about it a lot but, if I said too much here, Marvel might track me down and shoot me.”

Though he added, “As long as I’m working with Marvel, I’ll probably be working on Guardians and Guardians-related projects.” Right, who wants to start the Adam Warlock rumours?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is scheduled to open in the UK on 28 April 2017.
