Rupert Grint To Star In NBC Comic Book TV Series

Rupert Grint (Harry Potter’s Ron Weasley) is set to star in a new comic book drama for US Network NBC. But that doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing him in Spandex and a cloak (at which point, a certain section of his fan club have their fantasies dashed). Because this series is about a comic book, rather than based on one.

According to Deadline, NBC has ordered a pilot for the as-yet-untitled series which is being created by Ugly Betty’s Silvio Horta and Life In Pieces producer Aaron Kaplan.

Written by Horta from an idea by Kaplan, the project was apparently developed especially for Grint, who is a big comic book fan. He would play a New York office worker obsessed with the comic book series Imperial City, which was cerated by his father before his death. He thought he owned all nine issues but then discovers the existence of a tenth. More than that, he discovers that Imperial City is real, and he has to save it.

Horta and Kaplan will executive produce, with Grint serving as producer. Looks like that TV series of the Flaming Carrot will have to stay on the back burner for now.
