Marvel Wants Kurt Russell For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2

Marvel and James Gunn are close to signing up Kurt Russell (Escape From New York) to play Peter Quill/Star Lord’s dad in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Apparently he is the director’s top choice and Russell is amenable to the idea but The Hollywood Reporter warns that, “sources caution that proceedings are at the early stages, with the actor not having an official offer nor even having read the script. But both Marvel and director James Gunn as well as Russell seem optimistic the outcome will be positive.”

While Quill (Chris Pratt) comes from Earth and has a human mother, his father, as hinted at in the first film, is actually an alien and this will apparently become a focal plot point in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2.

Kurt Russell, who became a hero of cult movies in the 1980s, will soon be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 is set to be released in the UK on 28 April 2017.
