The Revenant, Mr Robot And “Comedy” The Martian Win Big At The Golden Globes

the-martian

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Amazingly, it wasn’t the comments made by host Ricky Gervais that caused the biggest controversy at the Golden Globes this years (though he did he best with a tasteless gag about a fatal car crash and claiming, “I’d rather spend the night in a hotel with Mel Gibson than Bill Cosby”). Instead the thing the internet really got its teeth into was The Martian winning  Best Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy. When Matt Damon was asked if he thought the film was a comedy he replied that it had won for musical. The general consensus seemed to be that Fox had entered it in the category based on the fact that it was never going to get Best Motion Picture Drama.

Other notable winners included The Revenant which managed the triple: Best Motion Picture – Drama; Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture – Drama (Leonardo DiCaprio); and Best Director – Motion Picture (Alejandro G Iñárritu). Mr Robot won two awards and Lady Gaga proved to be as celebrated an actress and she is a pop star for American Horror Story: Hotel.
