Daredevil Star Charlie Cox To Star In Vampire Film, Eat Local

Charlie Cox (Matt Murdick in Marvel’s Daredevil) has joined the cast of the upcoming British vampire feature, Eat Local, the directorial debut of actor Jason Flemyng (Primeval, X-Men: First Class) with a script by Danny King (Thieves Like Us).

He joins a cast that includes Mackenzie Crook (Pirates of the Caribbean, Game of Thrones, The Detectorists), Dexter Fletcher (Press Gang), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Eve Myles (Torchwood), Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey), Annette Crosbie (One Foot In The Grave) and Vincent Regan (Lockout, 300).

Eat Local is about an Essex lad, Sebastian (played by newcomer Billy Cook), whose promise of a night of passion with ravishing cougar Vanessa in a remote farmhouse turns into a fight for survival when she turns out to part of a coven of hungry vampires. Making things worse, a heavily armed band of mercenary vampire hunters arrives.

Eat Local has been 10 years in the making and has been through so many different budgets and guises but me and Danny King have worked together and finally we’re here,” says Flemyng. “We’re three days in to shooting and 50% of what we’re doing is better than I could have imagined and 50% is as good as I could have hoped. Everyone is working really hard with budgets they haven’t seen for 20 years and the actors are working for beer & lunch money. But we’re doing it, we’ve pulled it together, and I’m so thrilled.”

Eat Local is without a doubt the best film I’ve been involved with,” says producer Jonathan Sothcott. “Danny King has written an absolutely fantastic, smart script and Flemyng is the best prepared director I’ve ever worked with; he’s an absolute natural. The cast speaks for itself and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
