Walking Dead’s Corey Hawkins Is New Star Of 24: Legacy

Fox has found its new Jack Bauer. The network has cast Straight Outta Compton and The Walking Dead star Corey Hawkins to star in 24: Legacy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legacy concerns a military hero who turns to the CTU for help in saving his life and preventing what could potentially be one of the largest terror attacks ever on American soil. Hawkins – who plays Heath in The Walking Dead and Dr Dre in Straight Outta Compton – will star as Eric Carter, a strong and smart guy from a rough background who turned his life around in the Army Rangers. He’s pulled back into action when his past comes looking for him.

Stephen Hopkins (Lost In Space, multiple episodes of 24, Game Of Cards and the upcoming Houdini & Doyle) will direct the pilot of 24: Legacy from a script by Manny Coto (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Evan Katz.

Heath is still alive in The Walking Dead – he’s a part of the Alexandria community – so if Fox likes the 24: Legacy and takes it to a series it’s unclear if Hawkins will be appearing on both shows simultaneously. Then again, under the current regime at The Walking Dead, they needn’t have to kill him off; characters have a habit of going AWOL for episodes on end.
