"Mr. Pig" Premiere - Arrivals - 2016 Sundance Film Festival••• Diego Luna (Elysium, Y Tu Mamá También, Star Wars: Rogue One) is in talks to join Ellen Page in Sony’s Flatliners remake. Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will direct the remake from a screenplay by Source Code writer Ben Ripley. The original 1990 film featured Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland and William Baldwin in a story about a bunch of students voluntarily undergoing near death experiences to see if they can discover if there’s an afterlife. Idris elba••• Stephen King and the director and co-writer of the film version of The Dark Tower, Nikolaj Arcel, have been speaking to EW, confirming that the movie will begin shooting in South Africa in just seven weeks and that Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will star as the film’s hero and villain, Roland Deschain and the Man In Black. King also reveals that the Dark Tower movie will open with the first line from the book (“The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed”)  but that the film itself will jump into the middle of the story instead of starting with the first book. “[The movie] starts in media res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning,” King says. “Which may upset some of the fans a little bit, but they’ll get behind it, because it is the story.” Arcel went on to tease the film further, saying: “A lot of it takes place in our day, in the modern world.”

••• Katie Aselton, star of their comedy series The League, is the latest addition to the cast of Legion, FX’s TV series based on the Marvel mutant character with multiple personality disorder. Aselton will play Amy, the older sister to Dan Stevens’ David Haller, the central character. She is described as someone “who does her best to remain positive, which proves difficult when her brother has spent years in and out of hospitals.” [via ComingSoon]

••• Luc Besson (The Fifth Element) is set to direct the pilot episode of Artificial Intelligence, a new sci-fi series he’s co-creating for the TNT network. Besson will also co-write the pilot with Bill Wheeler, who will both executive produce the series. In the series, an artificial intelligence entity escapes its laboratory confinement and begins a methodical quest to carry out mysterious plans. The creator of the AI assembles a team of specialists to discern its objective, while simultaneously working to counter its rapid maneuvers and warn the world of imminent dangers.
