Assassin’s Creed Movie Sequel Already Being Planned

The first Michael Fassbender-starring Assassin’s Creed movie isn’t being released until Christmas 2016, but Regency and 20th Century Fox are all planning a sequel, reports The Tracking Board. Fassbender will once again star. They must be confident the first one is going to be a hit then.

In the first Assassin’s Creed film, based on the hugely popular Ubisoft video game series, Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, a man who discovers that he’s the descendant of a secretive society of deadly assassins, who are at war with the Knights Templar. Using some gizmo, Lynch becomes able to tap into the memories of his ancestor Aguilar, an assassin in 15th century Spain. Commanding his ancestor’s incredible skills, ability, and knowledge, Lynch sets forth to take on the Knights Templar in the present.

Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson costar in the film which is being directed by Justin Kurzel (who worked with Cotillard and Fassbender on 2015’s MacBeth).
