James Gunn Reveals Unused Groot Easter Egg From Guardians Of The Galaxy

The original Guardians Of The Galaxy movie was so jam-packed with Easter Eggs (fans are still discovering some of the really obscure ones!) that it’s no surprise to learn that some didn’t actually make the cut. Director James Gunn has revealed on Facebook page a frame that show’s Groot was to have been the centre of “Last Supper” gag (perhaps hinting at his fate in the film) while gambling on the space station Knowhere. The image is based on the famous Leonardo Da Vinci painting that regularly inspires “homages” in sci-fi and fantasy including famous promo pics for Lost and Battlestar Galactica. Hell, even House got in on the act while DC made a cheeky reference to the painting  during “Final Crisis” in 2008 when there was much speculation about Batman being killed off.
