Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD will be dealing with the fall-out from Captain America: Civil War in its final episodes of season three. Marvel has released synopses for the last four episodes (episodes 21 and 22 will be shown as a two-parter on the same night in the States) which we’ve stuck right at the bottom of this article in case you want to avoid major spoilers, but the key thing is episode 20, “Emancipation” will have the biggest links to events in the big screen MCU.
We don’t think that means any crossovers for Civil War characters into the show, but hey, you never know.
Meanwhile, exec producer Jeph Loeb has been telling ComicBookResources how Agents Of SHIELD has been setting up the groundwork for Civil War all season: “The reality is that we’ve been, from the beginning of the season, telling a story about how powered people interact with non-powered people. We’ve been doing it on a very ground level… This is a show that started with the idea that not all heroes are super, and now it’s very much a part of it. So that feeling of whether or not you’re going to be tolerant of someone who’s different is really, at the end of the day, what is at the heart of Civil War and what’s part of what we’re doing for the rest of the season… and possibly with what’s going into Season four.”
“Basically,” add Chloe Bennet (Daisy), “we’ve been having a civil war for a while now, and they copied us!”
“Failed Experiments” (episode 19) is described as: “Loyalties are tested and the SHIELD team must seek a decisive resolution to the looming Hive threat.”
“Emancipation,” (episode 20) is described as: “In the aftermath of the events of Captain America: Civil War, SHIELD feels pressure to reveal their involvement with Inhumans. But with the stakes higher than ever and Hive growing stronger, the team is tested in ways they could never anticipate.”
The as-yet untitled season finale (episodes 21 and 22) is described as: “It’s a showdown a season in the making as SHIELD takes on Hive. With Hive’s master plan finally revealed, the team must spring into action. Who will live and who will die?”
