Marvel Movies News Shorts: Black Panther, Civil War, Infinity Wars & More

••• Black Panther director Ryan Coogler helped craft the way the character appears in Captain America: Civil War: “Ryan came in and watched the movie,” Marvel movie boss Kevin Feige tells I09. “We did a little bit of additional photography here and there and Ryan did a pass at a couple of those scenes. So there’s a line or two that Panther says in the movie that Ryan contributed to.”

••• Feige also reckons we’ll be hearing news about the MCU’s first female-lead film, Captain Marvel, very soon. “I think we’ll be announcing a filmmaker in the next month or two, and probably some cast members later in the summer, at the end of the summer,” Feige tells Fandango. After that we might finally see the much-demanded Black Widow film: “I think Widow at some point would be great. But when you start talking about things that are now four/five years away… sometimes we do that. Dr Strange has been talked about for ten years. But we’re focused on the next nine movies, which is a lot, between now and 2019.”

••• According to Deadline, Creed actress Tessa Thompson (above) has joined the cast of Thor: Ragnarok playing, “a kind of superhero” as well as Thor’s love interest. The character will then appear in further MCU movies (presumably Avengers: Infinity Wars). Anyone want to take a punt on who she’ll be playing?

••• Speaking with Collider, Kevin Feige revealed that the release date of The Inhumans – currently 12 July 2019 – will definitely move, but to when he doesn’t know yet. “Since we made our initial phase three announcement, we added Spider-Man, which was a big joyous coup for us. We added Ant-Man And The Wasp, which was a big fun continuation of that story for us. Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time. So I think it will shuffle off the current date that it’s on right now. How far down it shuffles, I’m not sure yet.” This is the second release date move for the film. Originally it was announced for 2 November 2018.

••• And here’s the Captain America: Civil War IMAX poster.
