BUZZ News Shorts: Blade Runner 2, Doctor Strange, The Dark Tower & More


••• Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods, Dollhouse) has joined the cast of The Dark Tower. He will play a character called Pimli in Sony Pictures’ Stephen King adaptation, presumably based on the books’ Pimli Prentiss, although the movie’s version is described by The Hollywood Reporter as being “the right hand man of the Man in Black.”

17th Malaga Film Festival 2014 - Closing Day••• Ana de Armas (Knock Knock) has landed a major role in Blade Runner 2 although no details as yet. She  will join Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista in the film which is scheduled to begin shooting in July 2016. [via Coming Soon]

••• Tilda Swinton has responded to the “whitewashing” controversy concerning her character, The Ancient One, in Doctor Strange. Some fans have raised the issue of an Asian character form the comics being played by a British female. “Well, it’s not actually an Asian character — that’s what I need to tell you about it,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I wasn’t asked to play an Asian character, you can be very well assured of that.”
