Deus Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander Is The New Movie Lara Croft

According to The Hollywood Reporter Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl, Deux Ex Machina) has nabbed the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot movie.

Vikander won a best supporting actress Oscar for her role in The Danish Girl and a BAFTA for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the same film, making you wonder where the line is drawn. She also won a well-deserved BAFTA for playing her stunning performance as the AI Ava in Deus Ex Machina.

She replaces Angelina Jolie who played the role in two moderately successful films – Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life – in 2001 and 2003.

Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug (The Wave) will direct the film for Warner Bros from a script by Transformers 5 sctipter Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
