••• Screencrush has noticed that the trailer for the new Ghostbusters movie is the highest-rating movie trailer on YouTube’s “Most Disliked” list with – currently – 540,814 dislikes. Compare that to Fantastic Four’s 20,175 dislikes. Even though the Ghostbusters trailer isn’t great (where are the jokes?), the figure would seem to have more to do with knee-jerk reactions from people who can’s stomach the idea of –urgh – women playing the lead roles. What century do we live in?



••• Production on the third Maze Runner movie, The Death Cure, has been delayed to give star Dylan O’Brien enough time to recover properly from his onset accident. “The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O’Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries,” reads the official statement. “We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.” Whether this will have a knock-on effect for Teen Wolf season six has yet to be confirmed. ••• According to Deadline John Krasinski (The Office, 13 Hours) has been cast in the title role of Amazon’s TV version of Jack Ryan. The Jack Ryan series will reportedly show Ryan “in his prime” as a CIA operative, providing a new take from the films and using the various books from author Tom Clancy’s bibliography as a jumping off point for a contemporary narrative.

••• Captain America: Civil War has grosses $38.7 million internationally in just two days, even though it has yet to open in any key territories. It continues rolling out this weekend and will be open in 63% of the international marketplace by Sunday. It opens in the USA, Italy, Russia, China and Argentina next weekend.

••• Hulu today announced a straight-to-series order for The Handmaid’s Tale, an ongoing drama series based on the famous feminist sci-fi novel by Margaret Atwood. Elisabeth Moss (Top of the Lake, Mad Men) will play Offred, a “Handmaid” (a euphemism for a concubine) trying to survive in the male-dominated totalitarian regime of Gilead. Enslaved by a society that values only her fertility, Offred must find a way to survive in this world of oppression and swift, cruel punishments. [via Coming Soon]
