Sigourney Weaver Says Neill Blomkamp’s Alien Movie Will Still Happen
According to Sigourney Weaver, Neill (District 9) Blomkamp’s proposed Aliens sequel – set to feature and older Ripley and Hicks (and apparently ignoring all post-Aliens Alien movies) – is definitely only on hold, not cancelled. Production on the film was put on hiatus after Ridley Scott requested that it should not go ahead until after Alien: Covenant, his own sequel to Prometheus/prequel to Alien, is released. However, Scott has also indicated that...

BUZZ News Shorts: The Tick, Gambit, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 & More
••• Ben Edlund, the creator of The Tick, has been talking to Entertainment Weekly about the vision for Amazon Prime’s reboot of the show, which will star Peter Serafinowicz: “We’ve got this show about superheroes where we get to have fun with the idea of superheroes by starting with kind of a comedic parody of an event-oriented-like universe. It will be darker and more grounded. And it’s going to have a real story, a real hero’s...

Ridley Scott Promises Lots Of Familiar Aliens In Alien: Covenant

Ridley Scott Promises Lots Of Familiar Aliens In Alien: Covenant
Disappointed with the lack of Giger-style aliens in Prometheus? Then have no fear. Or a lot of fear. Or something. It’s seems that the next film in Ridley Scott’s prequel series will justify the shift in naming from Prometheus 2 to Alien: Covenant (via Alien Paradise Lost and Operation: Piss Off Neill Blomkamp… erm, possibly). According to Ridley Scott in an interview with The Wrap, “We’ll have them all… Egg, face-hugger, chest-burster,...

Now Michael Biehn, who played Hicks, one of the few survivors of James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) along with Ripley and Newt, has revealed a few titbits about what he knows about the proposed, but much-delayed sequel. Blomkamp has been revealing concept art from the project ever since it was announced which revealed...

How Director Neill Blomkamp Is Prepping Himself For His Alien Film
Mystery still surrounds director Neill (District 9, Elysium) Blomkamp’s plans for his entry in the Alien franchise (though presumably “Make it better than Alien Vs Predator Requiem” is on his check list). But he’s released an image on Instagram captioned “Alien room” which suggests he’s emerging himself in the Alien universe to help with inspiration. Four TV screens, though? Is that so he can compare and contrast all the different versions...

BUZZGASM The Friday WTF? Dumping Ground

BUZZGASM The Friday WTF? Dumping Ground
Knitted Groots, real-life duels, Walking Dead’s most likely zombie fodder, the cost of a Death Star and more Friday randomness… LET’S START WITH AN “AWWWWWWW!” You will not see anything cuter this week than a knitted dancing Groot sapling. No, your toddler dressed as a Minion is not cuter. Nor that dog playing ping pong with a sea otter video. This is the cute slam dunk. [via Slashfilm] NOT A TREKKIE? YEAH RIGHT On the BBC’s new afternoon...

Pacific Rim Preview

Pacific Rim Preview
Warner Brothers invited a select few to lunch today at the Vue Cinema in Leicester Square London for a preview of footage from Pacific Rim. Now all I can think about is robots and punch-ups. No, not like Rock-em Sock-em Robots, I mean huge towering titan mech warriors the size of skyscrapers taking on otherworldly aliens. Aliens which are so colossal and brutally destructive in their various forms that they make Godzilla look like an unhappy gecko...
